The FIRST CAST Travel Fly Rod is built for anglers who want to be ready anywhere, anytime. With a telescopic, internally lined design, this 6wt rod sets up in just 30 seconds—always rigged and ready so you can tie on a fly and start fishing right away.

This 8.5ft, 6wt model packs down to just 17 inches and is built for versatility. Whether you’re chasing trout, bass, carp, or whatever scaly creature you come across, this rod is ready to handle it. Compact and tough, it stashes easily in your pack, glove box, or even your desk drawer—so you’ll never miss a chance to fish.

Each rod comes fully assembled (just add your fly) and includes a reel with swappable left/right hand retrieve. Designed from the ground up, the FIRST CAST blends tenkara-inspired simplicity with the performance of traditional fly rods—making every cast smooth, quick, and fun.

From Our Sister Brand, Reyr Gear
The FIRST CAST comes from Reyr Gear, Haven’s sister brand. Just as Haven reimagines the way we sleep outside, Reyr reimagines the way we fish—removing barriers so you can focus on adventure, not setup. Both brands share the same mission: to make the outdoors more accessible, comfortable, and fun.

Because when the water’s calling, the first cast—or the first night under the stars—should only be seconds away.

Customer photo review of FIRST CAST Pro 6wt / 8.5ft – Travel Fly Rod

Took a month long motorcycle trip from Alabama to Washington and back. Got to set up my Haven XL in some pretty fantastic places. It is by far the most comfortable sleep system I have experienced and I have tried multiple setups. Easy and quick set up. Highly recommend.
