Yes! Haven tents are designed to suspend you mid-air and mirror the flatness of a regular bed.
What’s the weight capacity?
The capacity for both the standard Haven Tent and the Haven XL is 285 lb or 129 kg.
Can I use my own sleeping pad?
You can, but we don’t recommend it. Our Insulated Pad is a structural part of the lay-flat design — it fits the frame exactly, and its horizontal bevels push out against the sides so you aren’t wrapped up like a burrito. A third-party pad that doesn’t fit can slide around and keep the tent from working as intended.
Yes. The tent body carries a 4,000mm waterproof rating, and the included rainfly is rated to 4,000mm as well.

By far the best night sleep I ever had in the woods. I did a lot of research before I bought the hammock tent with the goal of making my night more comfortable and getting off the ground. I was not disappointed in Haven hammock tent and to my surprise there was a gear loft under the hammock and the end pockets hooked to the spreader bars to make the storage area better. I may have missed those features in my research but I am not complaining.
The absolute best sleep system I've ever had the pleasure of using. Its the perfect balance of a great tent and an even greater hammock. I love my Haven XL.
7 nights in my XL at the Boundary Waters. I'm glad I had this hammock, there were not many flat spots without rocks and roots at the camp sites for a ground tent. I slept well and the views were great.
Thanks,
Lee
Very comfortable! Have only used it overnight once so far but want wait to use it more. Always struggled to sleep in traditional hammocks and this solves that issue for me perfectly.
Mine came with one cosmetic issue, no real impact to function. One of the interior elastic straps across the bottom is twisted, and since they are permanently attached it would have to be cut and stitched/glued back on to straighten it. But as I said just a cosmetic issue, no real impact to function.
The main things on my list for potential improvements would be: including a longer strap set by default for more versatility, and a few more small carabiners to use for hanging gear or quick detach guyline setups would be handy.
Overall have to say I love this and am looking forward to many trips in the future. Would recommend to anyone who is interested.
The tent arrived today. I found that I could not set it up because the spreader bar pocket was sewn shut. The customer service seems to be nonexistent right now. This is a substantial amount of money to pay for an item you can’t even use. I bought several items from them, hoping to use them soon. Hopefully they will make things right. EDIT: Looks like they are making things right.
Hey liebes Team,
I bought the Haven XL green with a camo rain fly. It's been so fun to sleep in. I love the extra space to stretch around and the ridge light is super handy to have, especially with it's ability to dim the lights.
Sleeping has been really comfortable. I've slept out on a few cool nights so far (about 40-45 degrees) and some light wind and rain. The rain fly blocked the wind and rain really well, I actually was warm enough that I opened one half of it.
Overall it's extremely comfortable, relaxing to sway back and forth, and a fun camping experience.
Definitely worth having one!.....or two! My daughter keeps hinting that she might need to confiscate it!
Easy to set it up and lays pretty flat, If you want a flatter laying Haven get the safari. Either way the haven brand hammock is the best nights sleep I’ve had in a hammock!
Just returned from a five week cross country motorcycle ride camping in the HAVEN XL with the true flat pad. I hung this hammock in some pretty amazing places in some terrible weather. Stayed dry and slept well every night. Including the night that about an inch of snow and sleet hit. Highly reythis set up and can’t wait for the next trip.
I had it on the back of my jeep in a mild rain storm. Slept like a baby but will need to get a extension to raise it higher. Have not used it between trees but that is my next endeavor. Looking at the whoopie ropes, and pad cover.
Looking to use it in countless small trips around ohio, and kentucky and West Virginia. Fun times
At 6' 4", the Haven XL is long enough for me. I have plenty of room in the hammock tent to lay flat or curl up on my side. I do find that the zipper gets bound up while I am in the hammock. I feel like it is not moving smoothly and am worried that it is skipping a tooth here and there.
Great marketing, terrible customer service!
I was really looking forward to my expensive Haven Tent and was satisfied at first. A wrongly delivered rain fly was replaced after two weeks following photo documentation. In the meantime, I was able to test the Haven XL and then decided to “downgrade” to the standard size. (I’m 5’8”, 154 lbs, so not exactly a giant.) The exchange is described as simple and hassle-free. I sent everything back at my own expense with tracking to Slovakia, as per the instructions. Despite constant follow-ups via email, no response!
Eventually, after multiple requests, a new order was placed in US dollars WITHOUT crediting me for the tent I had already paid for. I have no intention of paying twice and just want my money back.
Not recommended for customers from Europe. Goods are shipped from a warehouse in Germany, returns go to Europ Service in Slovakia, and customer service is from the US via chatbot or AI....
This doesn’t work!
They probably only give preferential treatment to influencers and YouTubers
Bachelor party float trip- while most of my buddies were fumbling around with tents, stakes, finding softer ground on a rocky river bed, found 2 trees and I was able to set up in 10 minutes, if that. Once I did hit the hay, it was one of the best nights of sleep I've had in the wilderness. Can't wait to camp again.
Top!
The durability of these hammocks is not up to standard. This happened from gently setting the hammock on top of a tent stake. The rounded, non-sharp part where you would push it into the ground or drive it in with a hammer. I'm extremely disappointed in this product and it's failure to live up to my expectations.
Received the tent with a small tear in the bug net. No hassle return got it back before my trip. Went into the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota for 5 days. Wonderful sleeping and organizational Arrangements within the tent. Easy setup and take down. Slept at temperatures of around 22° up to 48° at night. Very very comfortable! Would highly recommend this to any traveler.
I love this tent. From years of football, I suffer from back and shoulder pain if I lay on a flat bed for more than 10 mins. This had made camping and sleeping on typical cots or sleeping pads on the ground troublesome. But the Lounge strap on this Haven XL has been a game changer for me. I sleep just as good outside as I do in my own home.
Before we get to the product I want to talk about the customer service I have honestly never had such good customer service with anything before and Tyler over at haven was more than happy to answer every question I threw at him and went out of his way to fix a issue I had without me even asking I can’t say enough good things about this company! Now for the Haven XL look I have a Hennessy hammock which is top of the line camping hammock but I don’t use it too much because it takes awhile to get comfortable in now the haven XL I literally replaced my bed at home with it so when I’m home I still sleep in the haven XL every night I no longer have a traditional bed in my room anymore that should tell you how good this hammock is anyways thanks again haven team look forward to growing with yall oh one last thing just get the true level pad it’s a night and day difference from the basic pad and they really listen to there customers and fixed anything you could have complained about is fixed with the new true level pad just get that one up front.
My first time using the Haven XL. This photo was taken at Playa Restingue, Veraguas Province, Panama. Playa Restingue is at the SW corner of the Azuero Peninsula. It is only a few kilometers from the most Southern point in the North American Continent. Havens camping hammock has made camping an option again for this 66 year old. It has definitely Uped my experience living and exploring in Panama.
Gracias,
Michael
Bought it as a gift for me wife to use
on our covered patio and up in the mountains. She loves the fact that she lays flat and is comfortable even on her side…and… she doesn’t have to worry about bugs.
I've been eying hammocks lately and upgrading my gear. Our scout troop is getting ready to ramp up for backpacking, and we just had our first camp in March for the newly crossed-over scouts.
I've never used a hammock before, but I took the plunge, and I'm glad I did! My ground setup was no slouch, but the Haven XL blows away the comfort level of my ground setup and my Nemo XL sleeping pad. First night using it, my Apple sleep score was an 82 and on par with my bed at home.
Outdoor temps were high 30s, and I was comfortable, not too hot with the insulated XL pad, pad cover, and my down sleeping bag.
I did a big no-no and did not test my new Haven setup ahead of time, so my first time using a hammock ever was on this March campout. Setup was a breeze for a newbie.
I can't recommend this hammock enough, and I can't wait for our canoe/backpacking trip in WI in August 2026 and onward to Philmont and Northern Tier bases.
I have had my Haven Hammock Tent now for about 3 years. In December of 2024 I had my right hip replaced and sleeping flat became very important. I went camping after the first surgery and had no issues. In December of 2025 I had my left hip replaced and last week I went camping in the Davey Crockett National Forrest with dog Luna, my little red heeler and camping buddy. I was concerned if I was going to be able to rest comfortably, but I had absolutely no issues. I can sleep in any position. Luna also enjoys camping and anytime I set up my hammock she is quick to find her place at my feet.
I love to airplane camp and when I do, I always take the Haven XL tent. I am a side sleeper and this hammock system provides me the most comfortable sleep than any other hammock or tent system I own. For side sleepers. The Haven Tent system is the way to go.
I love my Haven XL! From car camping to motorcycle camping, it's perfect for me! It is so easy to set up and I love the conversations that I have with people when they see the setup. My son also loves to borrow my Haven XL when he goes camping. He's going to be buying his own...soon, I hope!
