We often recommend using the Haven Tent with our specially-designed Insulated Pads. The pad is a critical structural component that contributes to the lay-flat design unique to our system. Using our pad ensures a perfect fit with the tent frame, which helps prevent the "burrito effect" where the sides wrap around you—thanks to the strong horizontal bevels that keep everything in place.
While you’re welcome to try using your own pad, keep in mind that if it doesn’t fit the frame precisely, it may slip or shift during the night, potentially causing discomfort and affecting the tent’s functionality.

At Haven Tents, we’re committed to ensuring outdoor sleep excellence, and a well-inflated pad is essential for that perfect rest. If you’re experiencing issues with your pad deflating, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Step 1: Rule Out Temperature Fluctuations
One common cause of deflating pads is temperature fluctuations, which can affect air pressure. When temperatures drop, air molecules compress—similar to how a hot air balloon works in reverse. So, if you inflate your pad in warm conditions, it may lose pressure as temperatures decrease.
To rule out temperature as the cause:
- Inflate your pad fully in a temperature-controlled environment (such as indoors) and leave it overnight.
- Check the pad in the morning. If there’s significant pressure loss, it could indicate a valve issue or leak.
- Take before and after photos of your pad to document any change. Timestamped photos are especially helpful for us when working with our factory.
Step 2: Check the Valve and Look for Leaks
If the pad is still losing air, it’s time to investigate further.
a) Inspect the Valve:
Ensure the valve is free from any loose insulation and that the rubber stopper is seated properly.
Feel and listen around the valve for any escaping air. Double-check all components, especially the O-rings on premium pads, to ensure they are intact.
b) Search for Surface Leaks:
Inflate the pad and gently apply a soapy sponge to its surface. Look for bubbles forming, which indicate air escaping.
Alternatively, you can submerge the pad in a bathtub, although this method may be less practical. Be sure to mark any areas where bubbles appear.
Step 3: Share Your Findings with Us
After completing these steps, let us know what you found. Based on your results, here’s how we can assist:
- One or Two Leaks: We’ll send you a Haven Repair Kit with a UV-activated sealant and patches that work with all our pads.
- Multiple Leaks or Unidentifiable Issues: If you find multiple leaks or can’t locate the source, please send us a picture or video showing the problem, if possible, or describe what you found.

With the extra width of the XL Tent, a slight fold or “slump” in the pad can sometimes occur, particularly for customers with smaller frames. To minimize folding, ensure your pad is fully inflated. After using the PowerPump or pump bag, add an extra breath or two to fully pressurize the pad. A minor fold is normal, but it shouldn’t impact your comfort.

If you're wondering what the heck a True Level pad is, it's just like it sounds. A pad that is completely level. Now, don't mistake us, our original XL Insulated pad will still allow you to lay completely flat like your bed at home, but if you want the best experience possible with the Haven XL, the True Level XL Insulated Pad is the way to go.
What makes the True Level XL Insulated Pad different from the XL Insulated Pad?
We think the image above does a great job of showing the difference at a glance. But lets drill down a bit more into the nitty-gritty. Here's what makes the True Level XL Insulated Pad stand out against its predecessor:
More insulation, no added weight:
The original XL Insulated Pad has an approximate R3 insulation rating. In contrast, the True Level XL Insulated Pad boasts an impressive R5.3. What the heck is R-value, you may ask? Put simply, it's basically just a way to measure how well air flows through insulation. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulation performs.
Typically when you add more insulation, your weight increases, but we specifically designed the True Level pad to be made with lighter-weight, softer materials which means even though you are getting more insulation, you're not adding any mass. If you want to get real specific, the True Level pad is technically lighter weight than the XL Insulated pad. You can see the exact weights below in the specs section.
Quieter and softer:
The XL Insulated pad is made out of a thick 40d Ripstop Nylon to ensure the pad's horizontal baffles stay rigid and keep the sleeping platform open and away from your body. Because we manufacture the True Level pad differently from the XL Insulated Pad, it allows us to utilize 30d Brushed Polyester which keeps the weight low, and the sleeping area softer and quieter.
Solves the "Slump":
Don't get us wrong, the original XL Insulated Pad will still allow you to lay completely flat like your bed at home, but it does have a higher tendency to "slump" or fold in the middle, especially when air temperatures drop inside the pad and you lose some loft. The True Level XL Insulated Pad solves this.
The image above shows a comparison of the cross-section of the XL Insulated pad and the True Level XL Insulated Pad. As you can see, the original XL Insulated Pad was designed to be uniform across the entire length of the tent to ensure a flat lay. In contrast, the True Level XL Insulated Pad is thicker in the middle and has tapered edges. If your body frame doesn't fill the entire sleeping area of the Haven XL, the XL Insulated Pad has a higher tendency to fold in the middle, whereas, with the True Level pad, you don't fold at all.

If you ordered a Premium Haven Tent Pad but received one labeled "Standard Insulated Pad," there’s a good chance you still have the correct product!
Why the Name Difference?
When we first developed the Premium Haven Tent Pad, we hadn’t finalized the name before it went into production. To make it available to you as quickly as possible, the label defaulted to "Standard Insulated Pad."
How to Identify Your Premium Pad
Here’s how you can tell if you have the Premium Pad:
- Valve Placement: The valve on the Premium Pad is positioned closer to the corner.
- Logo Details: There is writing to the left of the Haven logo on the Premium Pad.

In short, the Haven Second is a tent that has been lightly used and/or repaired that we sell for a reduced price to reduce waste and give them another chance at life. Haven Seconds come in every model of our tents -- Haven Tent, Haven XL, and Haven Safari.
When you order a Haven Second, you can be sure that you are receiving a like-new tent that has been hand-inspected and tested by our team. In most cases, you won't be able to tell that the tent is anything but new.
What Comes with a Haven Second?
A tent, rainfly, insulated pad, and everything else that comes with our new tents.
Limited Inventory
Because we don't get very many returns (not a bad problem to have if you ask us), our inventory of Haven Seconds is usually very limited. If there is a particular style, size, or color of Haven Second you want, but it is out of stock, you can sign up to be notified when we get them back in stock by entering your email and preference on the popup shown on this page. Please keep in mind that while we will do our best to notify you when we get more back in stock, they tend to sell very quickly and may be sold out again by the time you go to order. Our best recommendation is to simply get the size you want as soon as possible and not wait for a specific color to become available. Otherwise, you may be waiting a long time.
Final Sale
When you purchase a Haven Second, you acknowledge that it is a Final Sale and, thus, non-returnable. That being said, our one-year warranty still applies. If you have any issues with the functionality of the tent during the first year of purchase, let us know so we can help resolve it.

As soon as your order is placed, a shipping label is usually created and a tracking number is assigned to your package. Normally, your order will be shipped within 1 business day of order placement which means you may not notice any change to your tracking information during that time. After your package is handed off to the carrier, it can sometimes take an additional 24 hours for the tracking to be updated.
When a few business days pass without any movement on tracking, it's generally due to one of two reasons:
- The carrier has not updated the tracking yet
- Your order includes an item that is on backorder
In the event that your order includes an item that is out of stock or on back order, your tracking information will not have any updates until we ship it when we receive your item at our warehouse. If you need to purchase replacement parts such as spreader bars or poles for your tent, please check our Replacement Parts collection. If an item you need is not listed there, please reach out to our Customer Support team. If we have them available, we'll respond with an invoice for the replacement parts you require. Note: Because bug nets are manufactured alongside their respective tent body, they are not interchangeable. As such, if you need a new net, you will need to purchase a new hammock body. Contact us with questions.

Haven Tents Products
We stand by the quality of our products and offer a one-year limited warranty on all of them. If your product arrives damaged or defective or you encounter any issues within the first year, please let us know, and we'll ensure you're taken care of. In addition to our warranty, we have a generous 60-day return policy for our tents. This gives you the opportunity to test and try out your hammock for 60 days from the date of receipt. If you decide it's not the right fit for you, we also offer a "backyard test." Hang the hammock in your backyard or a clean area away from pet hair, smoke, and dirt to ensure it's in like-new condition. If you're unsatisfied, you can return it for a full refund. The process is simple and can be initiated through our returns portal.
To be eligible to submit a warranty request, you must be the original recipient of the item.

Haven Tents Return Processing Times
We do our best to process and issue refunds for returned items within one week of receipt. We guarantee returns to be processed no later than 15 days of reciept. If you are waiting on a refund for a returned item, please be patient and wait up to 7 days before contacting us. Haven Tents is operated by a small team and thus, sometimes processing returns can take longer than we would like.
In the unlikely event that your return is not processed within 15 days of delivery at our warehouse, we will automatically process and refund your return (less any applicable return shipping fees) to your original payment method the following day.

Orders with our backyard demo are eligible for free returns through our return portal. Orders without this protection are responsible to pay all return shipping fees.

To return your entire order, please visit our Returns Portal and select each individual item you wish to return. If you have purchased our Try Risk-Free shipping protection, you should be able to return your order through the shipping portal. Make sure to have your order number and email address handy when accessing the portal. If you've received a defective or damaged item, you can start a claim by using our Return Portal. Please provide us with details of the problem as well as photos documenting the issue, if possible. Make sure to include your order number in the claim. If you need additional help, you can reach out to us through our customer service channels, and we will work with you to resolve the issue. This often includes sending out a replacement for the defective part of your tent or hammock, such as the tent body, rainfly, or bug net.
For replacements, we will ask for a good address to send the new item to. Please ensure that the address provided is accurate to prevent any further inconvenience. Our goal is to ensure your complete satisfaction with our products, and we strive to address any concerns promptly and fairly.

Any of the following components that are not included with the return of a tent will incur a $2.00 deduction per item (not set of items) if not included with the return:

If you are looking to reduce the sway of your hammock, use a piece of shock cord and attach it to the corner toggles on the tent body. Do not use a static cord otherwise the toggle could rip off if a strong gust of wind blows in. Please keep in mind that the corner toggles are not load-bearing and an excess amount of stress can cause damage to these toggles and your tent.

If you live in the US, go ahead and place an order and be sure to check the box at checkout to include our Backyard Demo - Free Returns and Shipping Protection with your order. This will allow you to get a tent and try it out within 60 days. If you decide you want nothing to do with it, send it back for a full refund, for free. You don't even have to pay shipping. Just keep in mind -- we don't get many back :)
The Backyard Demo is just like it sounds. Set it up in the backyard (or other similar location) that is away from dirt, pet hair, tree sap, and campfire smoke. If your tent is returned in a condition that is not "like-new", we will be unable to issue a refund for it and it will be sent back to you to keep. The capacity for both the standard Haven Tent and the Haven XL is 285 lb or 129 kg. For heavier campers, we recommend the Haven Safari, which has a weight rating of 350 lb or 158 kg. These are the weights that are covered under our warranty. Additional stress added to the tent above this weight can cause tent failure and injury. Any damage sustained to the tent due to excess weight will not be covered. Always be sure to follow our Hang Safe guidelines.
With this in mind, we stand behind our products and vigorously test them to their limits. We performed a stress test on both the Haven Tent as well as the Haven Safari to prove that they are tough as nails. Check out the results below!

We do not currently have any storefronts which you can purchase tents from in the USA. However, if you live in Utah, you are welcome to stop by our warehouse in Sandy to check out and purchase a tent in person. The Haven Tent, Haven XL, and Haven Safari are both only rated to hold one person. Any additional weight above what each is rated for can cause the tent to fail and void your warranty. One of the main reasons we don't have a two-person hammock is that we would need to add a second ridgeline to compensate for the extra space needed and to keep the lay-flat frame open and functional.
We are constantly working on improvements to our design and adding new products. Who knows? Maybe we will have one in the future!

Ensuring your safety while using our hammocks is paramount. We advise users to exercise common sense and avoid hanging the hammock more than 24 inches above the ground. This precaution helps minimize the risk of potential injury caused by a fall.
Hang Safe Guidelines
- Make sure you only hang from healthy trees. Check the canopy for dead branches that could fall.
- We recommend a maximum hang height of 2 feet (60 cm)
- Max weight of 285 lbs (129 kg) for Standard and XL models, and 350 lb (158 kg) for the Safari
- Do not hang near fire, watch for sparks that can be carried by the wind.
- Never leave children unsupervised inside the Haven Tent.

No, we do not utilize PFAs in our products for waterproofing. Instead, we employ polyurethane—a thin adhesive layer that bonds with the fabric's fibers. This not only renders the material waterproof but also enhances its durability. Most notably, polyurethane lacks the harmful properties commonly associated with PFAs.

If your Haven Tent is dirty, congratulations! That means you are probably out in nature getting some use out of it. That said, it is important to keep your tent clean and well-maintained to extend its life on it. Here are some tips to keep in mind when it comes time to give your tent a good cleaning, as well as just ensure it is well-maintained:
- The tent is not machine washable. Spot clean only with a warm soapy rag and allow it to air dry
- Shake out your tent after each use to remove all dirt, grass, leaves, and other debris
- Whenever possible, leave your tent setup in the sun after use to allow all moisture to dry up. The UV rays will prevent a buildup of mildew and mold that could damage your tent. The best way to dry your tent is to:
- Find a location with ample open air - preferably away from a covered area so the sun can shine on the entire tent
- Setup your tent suspended between trees with the spreader bars in place
- Pat any extremely wet spots on/in your tent with a dry towel or rag
- Remove the rainfly and set it aside separately to dry
- Remove the pad from the tent
- Let sit for a few hours in the sun until completely dry
When you are through cleaning, ensure that your tent and all of its components are stored in a dry place to avoid any mildew buildup.

We get it -- sometimes you forget a piece of your gear or it breaks while you're using it. We've got you covered.
If a component or other part of your tent breaks unnecessarily while you are using it, send us a message. We have replacement parts that we can send you.
Important Notes About Components
- Spreader Bars: If you grab or pull your spreader bar while you are inside of the tent, it will probably bend or snap in half. It's important to note that the spreader bars are not load-bearing and thus, once in place, should not be touched. If you need to move around the tent when you are inside, grab onto the ridgeline instead. If you do happen to fall victim to a busted spreader bar, let us know and we can send you some new ones.
- Tree Straps: Keep your straps stored away from moisture or sharp objects when using them, or when you are not using them. These straps are designed to hold a lot more weight than you probably weigh (unless you are a 2,000 pound gorilla) so you shouldn't need to worry about them not holding you. That being said, any tear in the strap or foreign contaminant (i.e. tree sap) can potentially degrade the material and cause it to fail. Always make sure you are hanging low enough to the ground so that in the unlikely event that your strap fails, you won't get hurt.

We LOVE all of our furry friends out there and encourage you to invite them into the Haven Tent with you to keep you company. A couple of things to note when doing this:
- The Haven Tent is made for dogs, but not all dogs are made for the Haven Tent. The person who is writing this article has a small ~20 lb dog who would love to sleep with them in the Haven Tent (and has tried multiple times). Although the tent would hold up just fine, the dog likes to move and feels unstable when standing on all fours. In situations like these, there is plenty of space beneath the hammock for the dog to get cozy.
- Make sure your dog's nails are trimmed. The Haven Insulated pad is incredibly durable, but we'd rather err on the side of caution and be safe rather than sorry. Sharp claws + air mattress = a potential disaster.
- Ensure they are positioned in the tent correctly. Since the Haven Tent is a completely flat sleeping platform held in the air, too much mass on one side of the tent can cause you to slide toward your head, or your feet. If you are inside with the dog, we know you'd like to cuddle up next to them, but you'll probably be the most comfortable if they are at your feet to balance things out.

When using the power pump provided with your Haven Tent, you do not need to attach any additional nozzles. The pump can be used as is, without any attachments, to inflate your mattress. If you encounter difficulties inflating the mattress to the desired firmness, try using the pump without a nozzle and ensure that you're not over or under-inflating the mattress as per the instructions in our setup guide.

The blackstrap at the bottom of the Haven XL tent is the lounge strap. It can be used to raise the head of the hammock for increased comfort. This feature is included on all Haven Tent models.

The Lounge Strap is a built-in feature included with all Haven Tent models, designed to add flexibility to your outdoor relaxation setup. It allows you to easily adjust the angle of the head-side of your tent, transforming it into a comfortable lounge chair.
How Does the Lounge Strap Work?
The Lounge Strap runs along the underside of the head-side of the tent. By pulling the strap through the attached buckle, you can raise the head section to elevate your upper body, perfect for lounging or reading. To lower it, simply lift up on the buckle.
Steps to Use the Lounge Strap:

Raising the Head Section: From inside or outside the tent, pull the Lounge Strap through the buckle to lift the head-side of the tent.

Lowering the Head Section: To release the tension and lower the head-side, lift up on the buckle.
This adjustment is designed for quick and easy operation, whether you're inside relaxing or adjusting from outside.

If you are experiencing a situation where your RidgeLight is seemingly randomly turning on or off during the night, chances are you do not have a defective light. Instead, you probably need to adjust the location of the power switch. Here's why:
The switch on the RidgeLight is a touch switch, meaning, it turns on or off with the touch of a finger rather than a button or other toggle. Similar to your smartphone, this switch reacts when tiny electric pulses are registered from your fingertips. Since electricity can travel through conductive surfaces, if you touch a spreader bar that is touching the switch, you will find it will turn on or off.

More often than not, if you simply adjust the toggle to be away from all conductive surfaces, you will find that it will not keep turning on and off.

To effectively use the RidgeLight, it needs to be plugged into a power source; it's not battery-powered. This detail is mentioned on the box and our website. If the RidgeLight doesn't work as expected, check to ensure it's properly plugged into a charged power bank or our PowerPump. If issues persist, such as the light not turning on fully or partially, or the LEDs not functioning correctly, despite the control box indicator being lit, this may indicate a problem with the connection or the item itself. In such cases, please contact our customer service for assistance, and we'll guide you on getting it replaced under warranty or troubleshooting further.

While it is possible that your rainfly is faulty, typically we don't see issues with them. Was water leaking from one particular point or was the whole thing wet? Our rainflys are nylon-based so they can feel wet even though they are not. Here's what happens:
What happens is the surface gets wet and drops the temperature of the material. If there is condensation inside the tent, it then adheres to the inside. The best way to test this is to put a couple of cups of water in one spot on the rainfly while it is over a bowl or bucket. Let it sit there for an hour or so... at room temperature, you should find that no water has been able to permeate and wick through the material.
If your water test fails and you find that you actually do have a faulty rainfly, contact us and we will be happy to help you further.

Each rainfly can be rolled up and secured above your ridgeline. To do this, you will notice that your tent came with two loose toggles attached to the ridgeline. There are two main ways that the rainfly can be secured.
Securing the rainfly while using the bug net
- Detatch the loose toggles from the ridgline.
- Zip the bug net closed
- Roll up both sides of the rainfly from the bottom of the tent to the ridgeline
- Wrap and secure the toggles around each end of the rainfly
- When a storm rolls through, simply undo the toggles and batten the fly to the corner toggles of the hammock body.
Securing the rainfly AND the bug net
This option does not allow you to use the bugnet while the rainfly is rolled up.
- Unzip the bug net on each side
- Roll up both sides of the rainfly and net at the same time from the bottom of the tent to the ridgeline
- Without detatching the toggles from the ridgeline, wrap and secure the toggles around each end of the rainfly and net.
- When a storm rolls through, simply undo the toggles and batten the fly to the corner toggles of the hammock body.

What is Reyr Gear?
Reyr Gear is our #1 trusted and recommended fly rod. Their telescopic rods make fly fishing easy and come ready to set up and use.
We feel Reyr Gear says it best:

Can I buy the rod by itself?
- Not right now. Almost 2 years went into working on this combination of parts to make this rod work well as an easy to use system. The goal is to give you a package that is ready to go and already setup when the box arrives!
Am I a LEFTY or RIGHTY for ordering?
- A bit tricky with rods, but you should hold the rod with your dominant hand, and crank the reel with the other. The standard offering is for right-handers who hold the rod with their right hand, the other is for those freakish lefties (like the founder of Reyr Gear)
Does the reel flip from RIGHTY to LEFTY crank?
- YEP! Flip the bearing on the reel and spool the line the other way if you have the wrong direction crank reel See video HERE on how to do it
Can I change the reel or line once I get it?
- Yes these can be changed however you like, but we recommend staying with Reyr Gear line as they worked with engineers and industry experts to make specifically this line work well in the rod
Can I use the rod in saltwater?
- Yep! We would just recommend you take off the butt cap and rinse out the inside when you get home
I got my rod stuck open, what do I do?
- You don't need much force to secure the rod open, but if it does get stuck at full length a twist of each section is usually most effective, if not bump the bottom of the rod on a solid surface to try and coax it loose
Do you sell replacement tips and parts?
- Reyr Gear covers any parts that are defective or broken in normal use free of charge, just show a picture of what happened and we will work with you to replace what is broken.
